The WSI Method®

WSI’s proprietary method is the core to learning English at our language centers. The WSI Method is a multi-stage learning process based on academically proven English as a Second Language (ESL) techniques and procedures, centered on the classic "3 Ps” of language learning: Presentation, Practice and Production.

Interactive Study System

Students begin the WSI Method with an Interactive Lesson, which presents new vocabulary, grammar and idioms through dramatized real–life situations. Students develop their speaking skills through listening, repeating and reading the material. In addition, each lesson includes periodic checkpoints that allow students to strengthen and review the items that they’ve learned.

The interactive lessons are composed of state-of-the-art multimedia presentations, which can be accessed by our students any time, either at a WSI learning center or online.

Student Manual

The next stage of study is the Student Manual, which contains a summary of the learning points from the interactive lesson, along with a set of written activities. Students complete the activities from home, and bring them to the center for their teachers to review.

Encounter Class

Encounter Classes average three students per session and are comprised of students who are all at the same learning level. The intimate learning environment allows our students to feel comfortable in practicing and applying their new language skills. The Encounter Class is focused on building our students’ English communication skills and increasing their self-confidence in using English.

Social Club Activities

Social Club Activities offer a fun way for students to immerse themselves in English. Our students have the opportunity to participate in group activities not only at our centers, but at various other locations. Our Social Club Activities include: guided art gallery trips, student theater performances, fashion shows, weekend barbeques, sports events, karaoke nights, quiz shows, and traditional festivities such as Christmas and Halloween parties.

Complementary Class

Complementary Classes are communication-based classes which average eight students per session. Taught by a native English speaking teacher, Complementary Classes allow our students to develop their English speaking fluency with their teacher as well as fellow students. Study topics vary and regularly involve interactive role-play, such as arranging holiday plans, ordering food in a restaurant, attending a job interview, or debating on a number of topics.
